If Friends were Flowers ...

Happy Sunday everyone,

I hope you are all having a good weekend, despite the break in the weather - we had some torrential rain here last night! I'm off to York today to move my daughter out of her share house as she has now finished university and is moving back home. I shall have a full house once again!

It's my turn to post over at 'Sherri Baldy Art' today and this week I have made a home decor item - a wall hanging plaque using the gorgeous 'Positively Penelope' image which you can buy in Sherri's on-line store HERE.

I used lots of papers and embellishments from my stash, stamped out the wording before tearing and inking the edges and coloured 'Penelope' with my Promarkers before cutting her out and adding her to the project. All the flowers were stamped and hand cut before adding them to the design.

I would also like to enter this project into
the current 'Besties Challenge' which is
'FLORAL FRENZY'
further details can be found by clicking HERE.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend,
Hugz, Jan xx

Anything that Flies

Happy Holiday Monday,

Wow! What a gorgeous day we had yesterday, I hope today will bring us the same. I spent the day with my family in Castleton yesterday and climbed 'Mam Tor' - what a spectacular view from the top on such a lovely day. My little fur babies were shattered when we finally got home - I didn't hear a peep out of them all night!

So, are you ready for another challenge?  We have a new theme over at Make My Monday and I have to say, this is one of my absolute favourites - 'Anything that Flies'.  There is such a lot of scope to this one and I couldn't decide on just one thing that flies, I had to use a few! Here's what I made for my DT inspiration ...

I am seriously into my home decor at the moment and made another wall hanging, but I love these as I get to keep my work, instead of giving it away. Selfish, I know!

This one measures 25cm square and uses one of my precious pieces of Tim Holtz shabby papers as a background. I have stamped out various things that 'fly' including a dragonfly, a butterfly, a birdie, a fairy, an owl and even a flying heart! The flower is handmade and stamped on parchment paper with Stazon ink and the metal butterfly has been coloured with my Promarkers to match the color theme. The 'Wings' lettering was cut using my Sizzix Sidekick. Hope you like it.

Please pop over and check out the work of my teamies if you have the time and I shall look forward to visiting your blogs to see your entries.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:
Fashionable Stamping - Anything Goes
Fussy & Fancy - Anything Goes

Anything but a Card

Happy Monday everyone,

I hope you all had a great crafty weekend - I know I did, made loads of projects, including my first tutorial which will be coming up later in the week - so watch this space.

It's time for a new challenge over at Make My Monday and this week we would love to see something a little different, hence the title 'Anything but a Card'. So go for it, it doesn't matter what you make as long as it's not a card - ATCs, exploding boxes, gift bags, journal pages, tags, wall art, 3D work, just to name a few but the list is endless. Here's what I made for my DT inspiration ...

I love making things to keep, so decided on a wall hanging for my project this week and it's all made from scratch.  It measures 16.5cm x 16.5cm and the outside edge is decorated with pieces cut from a Spellbinders Lacey Square die.  I only have the smaller range, so I had to cut them and piece them together to enlarge them, but the joins don't show, so we're all good.

I have used several mats and layers before adding another Lacey Square cut from pearlised lilac cardstock.  The collage of items on the front include a stamped postcard (LOTV), a die-cut flower spray, a card cotton bobbin which I cut out and wrapped some cream lace around, a cute little wooden cotton bobbin which I wrapped some lilac twine around, a couple of cream hearts, loads of punched flowers, a couple of stick pins and a little sentiment banner which I created on my pc which reads 'Sewing mends the soul'. Here's a close up of some of the embellishments:

A piece of lilac polkadot organza ribbon attached to the back finishes it off and it's now ready to be hung - I just need to decide where! Lol.

Don't forget to pop over to the challenge blog and check out what my teamies decided to make this week too.

Hanging Hearts

Helloo from a very snowy Yorkshire,

We are thick in snow this morning - it snowed all afternoon and all evening yesterday and we have lots of it! My little doggies love it - Lacey keeps sitting by the back door wanting to go and play; she thinks she is a snow plough - she comes back in with a cute little pile of snow on her nose where she has been sniffing! Lol.

I have been working on some DT projects, but can't show you them just yet (one coming up tomorrow) - so I thought I would post a little project I made for my daughter's bedroom (which as you may have guessed, is decorated in purple!)  Here's what I made ...

I made the wall hanging using two chipboard hearts which I bought at a craft fair last summer.  I covered them with lush purple paper from the Tim Holtz Vintage paper stack and inked around the edges with distress ink.  I then went to town with the embellishments and added a bit of whatever I could find - there is a complete mixture of some stamped elements, some die-cut elements, some Frantage embossing powder, a gorgeous Tim Holtz key and a few other bits and bobs from my stash.  I was really pleased with the outcome, and so was my daughter!  Here's a couple of close-ups ...

I would like to enter this into the 'Stampin' for the Weekend' challenge which is 'Something Girly' - think this works, well it was made for my 'girly'.

Stay safe if you have to go out in the snow, or why not stay in and craft like me ;)  Hugz, Jan xx
