In Flight

Morning everyone,

I hope you all had a great weekend and enjoyed some of the lovely weather.

We have a brand new challenge starting today over at Cardz 4 Guyz and this week Joan has chosen the theme of

'FLIGHT'

Here's what I made for my DT inspiration ...

I like to be a little different, so thought about this great set of stamps from Creative Expressions. I stamped the airship onto some book paper using Sepia ink. I added some stamped cogs around the edge to create a simple border and then stamped the letters using my trusty Clarity Letterbox stamps. A little bit of layering and a 'Happy Birthday' sentiment and I'm done.

I hope you will join us with some of your own creations.

In Distress!

Hi there crafty friends and followers,

Well, it's time for another theme over at my challenge blog, 'FANTASY STAMPERS' and for the next two weeks we would love to see your 'DISTRESSED' projects. Here's what I made for my DT inspiration ...

Although my usual style is usually very cutesy, I loved making this one with all its distressed edges. I wanted to keep it 'pretty' so I went with a pink tone to compliment the Tea Dye distress ink. All the paper edges are distressed with my scissors (it looked like a snow storm when I had finished!) and some of them inked too. I have a couple of little tears and curled corners for extra distressed effect. The background is stamped with an Indigoblu hessian stamp, then I went a little mad with the frantage powder. Ooops! Finally a faux stitching stamp around the edge (which actually looks quite realistic in the photo).

The stamp is an old wooden mounted Hero Arts one I have had for ever and is called 'Collage Gratitude'. I coloured the central flower with my Promarker to add a little colour.

The flowers are die-cut using Tim Holtz 'Tattered Flower Garland' and then inked with the Tea Dye distress ink and have pearl centres.

The shabby bow is made from cream seam binding which I distressed with some Tattered Rose distress ink, so it matched the design better.

If you have the time, why not pop over to the challenge blog and check out what my team made too - there are some fab distressed samples.

Football Crazy

Hello,

I have a male themed card today for the new challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz and this week it was my turn to choose the theme, so we would love to see your 'FOOTBALL CRAZY' projects. Here's my DT inspiration ...

This is one of my favourite boy stamps from LOTV and I think it's suitable for any age. I coloured him with my Promarkers to match the design papers. I'm not really a football fan, but chose both our local colours so as not to upset anyone! Lol. The stamped sentiment and little 'play' tag are also LOTV.

I hope you can come and play along this time.

April Showers

Good morning,

I hope everyone had a good weekend - I came down with the dreaded 'man flu' last week which was very unpleasant, but seem to be over the worst now, just coughing for England!

Over at My Besties UK we have our monthly 'Same but Different' post today, where all the design team are challenged to use the same image, but obviously we all have a different interpretation. Here's what I decided on for my inspiration this time ...

I covered a kraft gift bag with some pretty paper from my LOTV 'Beach Bliss' paper pad and then topped it with Sherri's pretty image 235, which you can buy in her on-line store HERE.  She is coloured with my Promarkers and I printed the flower umbrella twice so I could decoupage it.

All other embellishments, including the die-cut flowers are from my own stash.

Why not pop along and check out how my teamies used the image in their projects.

The Alphabet Challenge

Hello there,

I have some news today before I show you my card. Just over a week ago one of my crafty friends who runs the 'Alphabet Challenge Blog' contacted me to say she was stepping down as owner/co-ordinator of the blog and asked if I would like to take it over. Now I have been a member of the design team on this blog for nearly two and a half years and really enjoy the 'Alphabet' aspect of it, so after some consideration, I decided it would be a shame to see such a great challenge blog close down and agreed to take it over.

We have a brand new challenge starting today and we are up to the letter 'E' and Silvi has chosen the theme of

'EYE-CATCHING EDGES'

So, here is what I made for my first DT project as the new owner of the blog!

This one is a tri-fold zig zag card and I stamped along the diagonal edges with a flower stamp before cutting along the top edge to create the zig zag effect. I added just a little colour to the centre of the flowers with my Promarkers. A piece of ribbon and a stamped sentiment finish off, together with a couple of smaller stamped flowers to compliment the fancy edges. My actual colour scheme is ivory and burgundy - but the photo makes it look black!

I hope you will come and join us with your own 'Eye-Catching Edges'

Jungle Fun

Happy Tuesday,

We have a brand new challenge over at Cardz 4 Guyz today and  Jane has chosen the theme of

'JUNGLE FUN'

Now we have had conversations about which animals live in the jungle, so Caz decided to extend it to include any exotic animals as well as jungle wildlife. So, with that in mind - here's what I made for my DT inspiration ...

I knew exactly which stamp I wanted to use as soon as I saw the theme - I have had it for ages, but not sure what make it is.

I began with a piece of square white card and stamped out the four images, which are coloured with my Promarkers. I also stamped the two sayings around the edge to form a square and doodled a border around to join up the square. The leaf stamp around the edge is from the same set and I stamped off the edge of the card, all the way around to create an interesting edge - they are also coloured with my Promarkers. A little bit of layering and hey presto - that's my Jungle Fun! Hope you like it.

One of Everything!

Hello again,

Well, that's my Easter break just about over, but I sure did enjoy it. Back to school on Monday for another six weeks.

I'm back with my DT inspiration for my challenge blog at
which sees a brand new theme of
'CLEAN & SIMPLE'
start today - here's what I made ...

So, I chose a DL size for this one to accommodate the stamp. I took one piece of white cardstock, one stamp, one distress ink, one Promarker, one sentiment stamp and one aurora adhesive crystal for the centre of the main flower. Now that's a lot of ones!

I began by masking out an area in the centre of the card using sticky notes, then used my inkduster to add some Picked Raspberry distress ink down the left hand side, fading it out to the right. Next I stamped the 'Poppy Panel' from Inkylicious over the top in black ink and coloured the detail with my Rose Pink Promarker to highlight the flowers and leaves.

I stamped the Clarity Wordchain sentiment at the bottom using black archival ink and finished with a little hand doodled border around the box.

Why not pop over to the challenge and take a look at what my design team made too.

Superheroes

Hello again,

I'm back today with our next challenge over at Cardz 4 Guyz - a challenge blog specially for male themed projects. This week Andrea has chosen the theme of

'SUPERHEROES'

Here's what I made for my DT inspiration ...

Again, I had no stamps for this one - so back to the internet and my pc again and kept it nice and simple. The 'Superman' logo is coloured with my Promarkers, then I masked it out and used some of my 'Stampin' Up' grunge stamps behind it with Broken China and Faded Jeans distress inks.

Why not come and join us and show us your own superheroes this week.

I Love My Besties

Good morning,

Just a quick visit this morning amongst the Easter celebrations - I hope everyone had a great weekend with lots of chocolate eggs!

Over at My Besties UK we have a brand new challenge starting today and as always your entries can be 'Anything Goes', but Carol likes to set a theme as well. So for the month of April our new theme will be

'LOVE'

So, here's what I made for my DT inspiration ...

I used backing paper from my stash and a couple of die-cut hearts to create the background. The pretty little Bestie is image 157 and can be purchased from Sherri's on-line store HERE. I coloured her with my Promarkers and added a little glitter to the bottom of her skirt. The lettering is stamped with my Clarity Letterbox stamps. A few pearls accents to finish off.

I hope you can come and play along with us.

D for Dancing

Good morning,

Well that is my first week nearly over, but it has been a busy one - lots of catching up done, including some retail therapy, lunch out and a new hairdo (oh, and lots of crafting too)!

Today we have the next letter over at the Alphabet Challenge and this time Caz has chosen the theme

'D for DANCE/DANCING'

Now this one made me think - I couldn't believe that I had nothing in my stash that remotely resembled dancing! So, here's what I came up with for my DT inspiraton ...

I 'borrowed' the ballet slipper image and coloured it with my Promarkers, then added a fab sentiment which I designed on my pc and printed out. The design paper is  a leftover piece from my stash which fitted the theme perfectly.

I hope you will come and join us with your own 'Dancing' creations.

Happy Easter everyone,
Hugz, Jan xx
